Home to some of the finest museums in the West, Denver continues its love affair with the arts. Museums include the Black American West Museum, Buffalo Bill’s Grave & Museum, Butterfly Pavilion & Insect Center, Children’s Museum of Denver, Colorado History Museum, Downtown Aquarium (and Landry’s Restaurant), Colorado State Capitol, and Denver Art Museum. The Denver Art Museum is already the largest art museum between Kansas City and the West Coast with plans to double its size in December 2006.

The four square block Denver’s Performing Arts Complex is the second largest in the nation with ten venues offering 10,000 seats to experience Tony Award winning theatre, opera, symphony, and ballet. Denver also boasts 30 other theatres and over 100 cinemas.

Lower Downtown area (LoDo) presents 30 art galleries, many housed in beautiful old brick warehouses. Galleries in the downtown, including LoDo, Golden Triangle, and Santa Fe districts, keep their doors open late the first Friday of each month. The historic neighborhoods of Highlands, Berkley Park on Tennyson Street, and the nearby 3600 block of Navajo Street also house a variety of galleries. Cherry Creek North and South Broadway are also lined with galleries, art and antiques.
