Coyote Ridge Elementary School Reviews

I have had only positive dealings with Coyote Ridge. I have had two daughters in the school. At first my 5th grader who just moved into the school had some adjustment problems with the teacher, but the teacher honed in on my daughters strengths (language arts and reading) and they became very good friends. My second daughter has been at the school since 2nd grade. she is very gifted and has been stimulated, challenged, encouraged and nurtured by the teachers at Coyote Ridge. I will admit some years had more fun activities provided and i don't like the halloween policy. Let kids be kids and let those who don't believe in dress up do someother library activity, but i cannot say anything negative about the education my daughters have received.

I am quite surprised at the recent negative ratings for Coyote Ridge. Our first grade son transferred from a school in Louisville after Kindergarten and his experience has been extremely positive. In Kindergarten, his teacher decided that his 'leadership qualities' weren't beneficial to her style of teaching and alienated him from the class. His first month at Coyote Ridge, he was Coyote of the Month. He wanted to invite his teacher, Mrs. Muller, to his birthday party, and now absolutely loves reading. He even received a hand written note from the principal mailed to our house a few weeks ago commenting on a story that he had written. It was definitely a pleasant surprise.

If you want to prepare your children very early for the rat-race this is the school for you. If you actually want your children to enjoy the learning experience and feel positive about school then look elsewhere! I agree with the reviews on the Principal She is very nice, however seriously lacks in creating a positive learning atmosphere. My son was in this school from k-5th grade and starting at 3rd grade my son hated school. The kids are not allowed to sit with their friends from other classes at lunch, they can't dress up for Halloween, and I just found out (and am absolutely appalled that there will be no graduation ceremony or send off from 5th grade.) This school is all about CSAP's not about the happiness of the children. I am a firm believer that if you enjoy your atmosphere learning is enjoyable. Find a different school!

The school is not very good. I blame the principal, she is awful. She is sugary sweet on the surface but does nothing to accomodate the needs of the children at the school. She creates a negative atmospere between parents and teachers. She continues to bring back and hire mediocre teachers. I'm desparately trying to remove my children from this school...

We had to remove our son from this school after they refused to meet his special needs, we are now in a private school. The school's philosophy is archaic and the teachers, save one, are set in their ways.

This is a great school. The teachers have been great this year and the principal knows most, if not all of the students by name. We have been very pleased with the balance between 'test preparation' learning and broader based, critical thinking development.

This school has tremendous teachers. All of our children have enjoyed their classroom experiences tremendously. The staff has been very accessible and willing to work through child specific issues. On top of that, the test scores continue to improve every year.

We have been very happy with this school. The principal and staff are caring. The school offers some free computer and art programs. We think the emphasis on academics is greatly helping our child excel.

Both the staff and principal are wonderful. The principal knows every child's name, visits the classrooms regularly, sends notes home to tell the children that they're doing a great job. Focus is on academics, citizenship, being responsible for your actions. My kids are thriving. I highly recommend this school to others in the area!

We have major problems with the principal. Her main concern seems to be test scores and teachers - definitely not the children. I have never encountered a principal as difficult to deal with. As a result, we are extremely disappointed with this school and trying to get our child out of it right now. They do however have an excellent and caring gym teacher.

This principal is very controlling. CSAPs are the number one issue priority in this school. I do believe her control affect the teachers' effectiveness. True quality of the school would improve with a new principal.

I agree with the previous statement that this principal is a failure when it comes to REAL issues in this school. She is a sad statement of 'granola' style education. She has cancelled Halloween this year and I am outraged. She IS, indeed, more worried about parking and went so far as to actually spray paint over the city's posted street sign with limited hours for turning right only. She is truly obsessessed with this issue. Get it together, ma'am, and focus on the REAL issues!!! Shame on you and your control issues!! I recommend her being gone and the quality of this school would improve.

I think the quality of academic programs and teachers is exceptional, and the teachers and staff are committed to the children. My daughter has thrived this year, not only academically, but emotionally and socially. Her reading and writing skills are beyond what is expected, she is receptive and enthusiastic, and she has become more responsible and aware, and concerned about the environment. The principal is excellent and is involved in every aspect of the school. She knows every student's name, and is definitely a hands on principal, dedicated to the students, teachers, and the success of every student. Our children's well being and safety is of the utmost importance to her, along with their all around success. Parent involvement is high and welcomed. Parents participate in the classroom, with special projects, field trips, tutoring etc. and are kept in the loop with their child's development. I'm very pleased with this school.

Some students have had to contend with teacher changes mid-year due to student numbers not growing in line with projections. I am afraid this may happen to my daughter in the future and am considering enrolling her in a K-12 charter school being built nearby. Music is one week per month, as is art, and PE is two weeks per month. The PE teacher is excellent, dedicated and wonderful with the kids. He donates his time to an afternoon program called Play It Again Gym every Wednesday. The principal is great. My daughter's full day Kindergarten teacher is experienced and worth the extra money we pay for the full day Kindergarten tuition. Parent-involvement is pretty high. Other than the mid-year instability with classroom/teacher assigments, I actually like the school.
