Mrachek Middle School Reviews

I used to attend Mrachek last year, and I believe the teachers are very strict, the principal actually really does communicate with the students, people in my grade always told him about ideas for like dances and stuff, and he listened really well, he actually put my friend on like a student council!! Lunch teaches responsibility because you cant go outside unless you have your student i.d, and if you dont have it you cant go outside, and there was discipline, I was on Leadership for counseling and the office, and if someone was in trouble, they always were talked to, cause even though the teachers didnt tell you anything about the student, you could by the hostility of the kid that he/she was in trouble. I absolutely LOVED mrachek!!! I miss it soooo much!!

Overall I think is a good school. I have some issues. My daughter says that they get no break. If they don't get a break and they're hungry, kids won't be able to learn as well and I'm worried about her health. Kids absolutely need a break.

I can't recommend this school. My son attended last year. I found the Principal leadership to be almost non-existent. Communication is spotty with things that parents need to know. My son struggled and had difficulty all year long. Most of the his teachers, I felt tried, but I feel this school is overwhelmed on so many levels. We left this school after just one year. The school is trending down and isn't making progress.

Compared to the school my son went to in Texas, Mrachek is 100% improvement! He had a problem with bullies in both schools, but Mrachek was the one that clamped down on the problem with no urging from me. Any academic problems have more to do with the low economic make up of a large portion of the kids than anything.

I am not impressed with this school. We just got the statistics in for mrachek in the mail, and it is low and expected to decline (the school's own words, not mine!). This school is not up to par academically, and it doesn't offer a lot of choices for extracurricular activities either--they claim that your child can be well rounded when they enter high school. Plus there is a tremendous gang influence at this school and bullying problems. The counselors and administration are also slow to notify the parents if there is a problem with the child, and it takes a lot of effort on the parent's part to even get a live person to call back!

This is the best school. Good quilities.Neat. Kind. I would tell 5 graders about this school to ask there parents to send them to this school. The academic programs are very challenging and well thought of.The sports and clubs are so fantastic ,the school deserves a really good commet so I hope you will think so to.

Not a good school. Morale low amongst teachers and high teacher turnover all contribute to less focus on providing quality instruction to kids.

I think Mrachek Middle School is the best. There is much of a diversity there unlike cloumbia that is all white. You learn a lot in this school.

Teachers do not provide responses to questions via email in a timely manner. They are busy, but they don't seem to care about interacting with the parent unless they are forced to.

'As a parent of a student going to Mrachek Middle School, i think Mrachek Middle School has definitly improved sience a very long time this school is now safe for my kids to go to and the education is up 100%.Parents who think Mrachek Middle School is a bad influence for there kids them they might not be thinking very much, i would not change my daughter to Columbia becaues everyday she comes home telling me about what she has learned in school, and i'am so pround of her.she is getting good grades in school and i would change that school for nothing.Mrachek has definetly changed since a very long time and i would not change my daughter from that middle school.

Mrachek Middle School is not a recomended school. My daughter went for 6th grade at Mrachek and I couldn't resist taking her out of that school. The curiculum used in the classroms seemed unsufficient. I did not feel that she was learning enough during the course of the year. In addition, she recieved a Partially Proficient on all three CSAP test is sixth grade which is a big drop from when she scored Advanced in all three CSAP areas in 5th grade. I also didn't care for the environment of students that she was in. She came home everyday tellnig me about the number of fights that occured each week. Now her and her little brother will be attending Columbia in hopes for a better school.

I would be embarrased to be a student at Mrachek Middle School. Mrachek is a school of violence and unsafety. I have witnessed several gangs, fights, and so on, occur at this school at times when I go upthere. Aurora Public Schools really needs to take a close watch on this school. It has barely any academic success and does not give a good education to the students. I recomend that you transfer your child to Columbia so that they may go into high school fully prepared.

I would not recommend this school. I question the material presented in class. Some of the material was more for an early elementary student as opposed to a sixth grader. It doesn't seem like they are requiring the students to live up to a very high potential, instead they are taking the lower group of students and asking them to just keep working at their level, while the students who are on a higher level are relearning things they already learned in 4th and 5th grade. I intend to switch my kids over to Columbia or to try to get them into CC school before they enter high school and find out if they are behind. In addition, there is a lot of violence at the school. My kids tell me about fights that happen there on a regular basis and make the comment that the teachers don't do anything.
