Littleton Prep Charter School Reviews

Love a school that is not pushing it's views on my child! Love the staff!

I can't say enough good things about this school. Beyond the outstanding education our daughter is getting, the school has such a warm and inviting feeling... I am amazed every day at the quality of the principal and staff. They truly care about their students, and it shows.

Littleton Prep has the most caring teachers, and a fantastic parent's organization (POPS)!

My daughter just finished Kindergarden 2008-2009. We love Littleton Prep! The teachers, enviornement and education are above avarage. It is amazing how much she learned and we hope to continue with Littleton Prep until 8th Grade.

I have been an active parent at Littleton Prep for three years and find the longer I keep my children there the more disappointed I become. I will not be bringing my children back next year because I find that the current principal in far too uneducated(ask for her credentials) and inexperienced to hold the school to the standards we all hope for our children's education. Upon trying to discuss several issues either in reguards to my younger or older child I found a genuine uninterest from the administration and sadly the teachers. I have seen dramatic changes over the last two years- good staff and administrationa are leaving as well as the children are becoming more high need. Becuase the good teachers are leaving the quality students are leaving as well.

My children both attend Littleton Prep and it is an excellent school! The structure and discipline is well formed, yet compassionate and beneficial. The curriculum is excellent, and the staff go above and beyond to make it a wonderful learning environment for children. There is plenty of communication between parents and teachers, in fact, a certain amount of parent involvement is expected at this school. And anytime I have felt I've not gotten enough feedback, or had a concern about my child - the teachrs and staff have been more than willing to listen, communicate or find a solution to the problem. While I strongly suspect my very precocious, active and easily bored child would be labelled a 'troublemaker' at other local schools, both my children thrive at LPCS. There is no reason to be bored - no child's needs or abilities are overlooked or unmet. It's great!

In the beginning, I was very impressed with LPCS based on the level of knowledge and curriculum that my daughter was bringing home. Even in Kindergarten I was amazed everyday with her growing knowledge. She is now almost finished with 2nd grade and I am pulling her out of the school. The quality of the curriculum has not gone down, it is the school's participation and genuine caring for a student's success that has me disappointed. My daughter repeatedly gets the same remarks on her report card but with no assistance or communication from the teachers. She brings home assignments and tests with 80-100% and yet gets poor grades on report cards with negative remarks. The lack of communication and support from the teachers is heart breaking. I can't believe a school that offers such advanced material and education has failed to pay attention to the students themselves.

As a parent I was very disappointed with the education my sons were receiving in the public schools and desperately wanted better for them. I found LPCS by chance, It has turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to our family! The curriculum is structured so that no one fails, all the children are able to learn at their own level with the love, and guidance, and the addition of Core Knowledge from the LPCS amazing staff. Both of my boys are flourishing at this school and my husband and I have faith in the ability of this staff to give our kids the best education possible. A special thank you to Ms. Spafford and Ms. Tomasetti, for helping us mold our boys into amazing young men!

We attended Littleton Prep. Charter School for 2 years with great expectations. We were deeply disappointed. From the top administration and parent governing board to the teachers and staff, there was great dissention at this school about the vision/charter and daily running of the school. My hope is, with time, things will dramatically improve here providing a great option for parents/children who are not pleased with the public school choices.

LIttleton Prep Charer school was founded as a traditional academic school guided by a mission of high academic achievement. Its instruction heavily relies on the direct instruction methodology combined with the Core Knowledge curriculum. Ability grouping is employed for skills classes, such as math, spelling, reading and English. 65% of the student body comes from outside the Littleton District and 30% is minority, yet the school matches the average score of other Littleton District schools. Students wear uniforms. Discipline problems appear to be less severe than the average public school in its surrounding area. Music, art and sports programs are limited or offered on a part-time basis. The school is a good choice for parents wanting their child to get a good solid traditional education in an environment less prone to the types of social and discipline problems that can plauge many public schools, especially in the middle school grades.

This school is amazing! My son is has mild learning disabilities, but has absolutely thrived here. The school is definitely academically rigorous, so it isn't for everyone. But if you want a very high-quality, traditional-style education for your child, and your child is willing to work for it, this is the place. The teachers are truly fabulous, the curriculum is research-based and rock-solid, and the school environment is extremely positive and orderly, while still being 'kid-friendly.' This isn't one of those all-white, upper-middle class typical suburban schools. The student body is very diverse - something we searched for. The school has a unique leadership structure (three directors instead of one principal) that works very well and really utilizes each director's experience and strengths. Parent communication is excellent, with a great school-wide newsletter, website, classroom newsletters and prompt telephone calls. Parents are happy, kids are happy, and test scores look really great!

This school started with a fine principal and had rapidly increasing test scores despite drawing a lot of students who came with reading, math and language deficits. Unfortunately, quality has declined since departure of original principal and most of staff in middle school 5-8. The eighth grade math pass rate is dropping towards zero. Current principal and board appear to have no idea what is going on and no plan to address problems.

I am the parent of 4 children and have been around education for 26 years. I have been involved with this school for seven years and I can truly say that this school has outstanding, committed teachers and directors. The level of individual support for students is unprecedented. I only wish this school had been around for my two older children.

My daughter had been attending LPCS since 2003. I am severely disappointed in the overall experience she has had. There seems to be no attempt to get the kids involved in extracurricular activites, and when they are offered, only a certain grade average is allowed. Kids under that are unable to participate and, I feel, are deprived the opportunity to make friends and have an enjoyable time. I have called both the principal NEVER called me back, While I have called repeatedly, he won't return the calls. While they teach great things, the school is very detached from dealing with problems and issues. If it's a negative issue, they ignore it. I will be pulling her out!

Our children are thriving in this school. They are challenged in their individual areas of talent. The staff really truly cares about our children. We appreciate the discipline. Keep up the good work LPCS! Cheryl Scally

I transferred my kids in 2001. Both have gone from mediocre students in the public school system to 'A' & 'B' students here. The curriculum is much more challenging and provides students with what they really need to know in all subjucts. Students are placed at the level they fit best in each individual subject. I have a 5 yr. old who will be starting kindergarten here next fall. I woldn't dream of sending my kids anywhere else!

We enrolled our 5yr old daughter in the kindergarten program in 2002, she is now entering 1st grade. I can't not begin to say enough wonderful things about the school and staff. Each and every day we are impressed and delighted at the improvement she makes and the sheer joy she expresses in regards to her school. At the age of 6 she is already completed math at a third grade level and has learned the joy of reading. Add to this the level of respect, responsibility and positive attitude taught and presented to the students by the staff and you have a school that truly cares about each and every student.
