Iver C. Ranum High School Reviews

I love this school and even though i am no longer attending Ranum i would recomend it for anyone.

Intolerant teachers, CSAP rules over all, poor sports programs, barely any english in the hallway, ridiculous. No languages besides French and Spanish, the only good thing about the school is the IB program and even that is begining to fail, Ranum needs to be changed, starting with a new staff, younger better teachers and more down to earth and smarter administrators.

Ranum is a good school. They have programs that only a minority of Colordo schools can offer. The teachers are there to make sure that we get the concepts and the studens there are pretty nice.

great school! nice teachers, good curricular program, nice kids, so thankful its in our area!

There are certain things that Ranum High School offers that many other schools cannot claim. Among these things: diversity and tolerance. In reflecting on other schools I am proud to say that Ranum's cultural understanding exceeds most. However, it does not make up for poor academic standards and the lack of efforts spent making sure students speak English. Because of pressure to pass CSAP, the education of students is starting to not be worthwhile. The advent of the IB program has brought new life to the school, but has downgraded the promotion of the arts. There is a wide variety of extracurriculars, but if they are not athletic, they are hardly supported by the administration. Many problems at Ranum result from the lack of parent particpation (100 out of 1500 families showed up to Back to School night 2002). It has the potential to be great, it just needs work.

This school serves one main purpose, it is a feeder school. By this i mean that they just pass kids through easy classes just to feed them out into the real world. The level of education is greatly reduced due to the large population of non-english speaking students. I would not recommend this school to anyone, unless your child is uncapable of making it in a real school.

My child went to Ranun High School during year 2003 when we moved to the area, and while in the process of registering for the new school year, the main office secretary staff were unhelpful. My child, as a disciplined student, regularly complained about how the teachers didn't have good teaching skills and habits, so he didn't learn as much from them compared to his other high school. This made my child and me, as a parent, feel very unwelcomed. For these reasons, I transferred my child to a different high school. I had never been so disrespected by such a school staff. Although I wouldn't recommend such a school to anyone, I did find the counselors friendly and helpful.

Ranum is a good teacher, student school. But Ranum has a very poor sports program.

I graduated in 1998, my brothers in 1995 and 2001, we never had any major problems at Ranum. I believe that if a kid doesn't learn in class they have nobody to blame but themselves. Most of the teachers at Ranum were amazing teachers. You don't know how hard it is to teach until you become a parent or teacher yourself!

I graduated from Ranum in 1995. When I graduated I didn't know nouns or verbs, I struggled with algebra and had no teacher as a mentor. I would never send my children to this school as I have seen the poor quality of teaching that is allowed at this school.
